The Pelican Post

Oak Island Press

Linda Drye

I started doing watercolor in September 2005 when I joined the Oak island Senior Center. I have loved the challenge it has given me. I have been coming to Oak Island for about 15 years and call it home. Since my disability in 2002 it has been hard finding things to occupy my time. I found this in photography and painting. I am a member of the Oak Island Art Guild and AAS of Southport. It has been quite an experience learning all the techniques of watercolor. Now I am interested in pottery and display both aspects of art at the Oak Island Senior Center, Franklin Square Gallery and Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash. I also make cards from my paintings on the computer, which helps occupy my time. My passion is the beach and all the beauty that is here. I am married with two sons and two grandchildren. What a great life!
