Brunswick County- A View from the Bridge
The newly formed Brunswick Ballet Company and Brunswick Little Theatre announce auditions for THE NUTCRACKER UNDER THE SEA on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at On My Toes Dance Studio, 4672 Long Beach Rd, Southport, NC, starting at noon. The auditions will be broken down into segments to accommodate various groups. Ages 5-7 will audition from noon - 12:30 pm; ages 8-12 from 12:30-1:00; ages 13-18 from 1-1:45; Boys of all ages from 1:45-2:15; Adult men and women, dancers and actors from 2:15-2:45. THE NUTCRACKER UNDER THE SEA will be performed December 12 and 13, 2009 at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College. Rehearsals will begin in September at On My Toes Dance Studio. The ballet is an adaptation of the traditional story of THE NUTCRACKER, which gives it a local flare without changing the basics of the story or music. It takes place on a North Carolina rice plantation in the 1800's, and Clara's dream in Act II takes place under the sea. Become a part of Brunswick County history by participating in it first and only ballet company's debut performance. Dancers do not need to prepare ahead of time, but do bring your ballet slippers.
