The Azalea Coast Amateur Radio Club hosts a worldwide ham radio operator event onboard the Battleship commemorating the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. Radio operators making contact will receive a special postcard verifying contact. Information: 910-367-1758.

Part of historic downtown Wilmington’s annual holiday light celebration, the Battleship will be dressed in lights strung from the bow up to the masts and down to the stern. Enjoy nightly from dusk to 11:00pm. Free viewing from downtown Wilmington. For information: 910-251-5797

11th Annual Battleship Half Marathon & 5K

This challenging USATF-certified race starts and finishes at the Battleship, encompassing three bridges and Greenfield Lake. This race is presented by Ed Fore with the support of over 100 volunteers. You’ve seen the Battleship on paranormal programs, now come see for yourself! Tour guides will take you through the ship as you learn who the ghosts can be and why they are still haunting the Battleship. As you walk along the passageways, you might see why the ship is haunted. “Family Pyrate Night”

The Friends of the NC Maritime Museum at Southport are sponsoring a Family Pyrate Night at the Southport Community Center on Tuesday, July 21.  Dress up like a pirate and enjoy the tales of children’s author, Marsha Tennant.  The event will start at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.  Reservations are recommended.  Call the museum at 457-003 or check out the website at www.friendsncmmsouthport.org
