Brunswick County- A View from the Bridge
Oak Island Press has been the publisher of The Pelican Post magazine for 16 years now. It began as a black and white publication that not only contained advertising but local lore, crossword puzzles, golf tips and everyone's favorite, Capt'n Jack. Over the years, it developed into a full color magazine that offered a cover contest every year where artists from all over the United States would send their artwork, hoping to see it on the cover of the magazine.
Due to the state of the economy, the difficult decision to discontinue publishing The Pelican Post was made. Over the years our advertisers have made it possible for the magazine to be available to readers FREE of Charge. Understanding that business owners need to make sure their businesses are financially sound and may need to cut back on expenses to take care of their families, we are now bringing our readers the same information online.
It is our hope that we can supply more local stories, more artwork, and more information to our readers while helping the businesses in our area hold down their advertising budgets.
We believe these current economic times will eventually make all of us stronger and help us realize what is truly important in life- faith, family and friends and hard work!
We appreciate your support over the years! We hope you enjoy The Pelican Post website as much as you did the magazine! We are excited to bring you a new look and a whole lot more content. Make us your Home Page by clicking on HOME on the right side of your toolbar. You will find that we will be bringing you the same great information, Tide Tables, Ferry Schedule, along with the stories! A View from the Bridge is our BLOG and will give readers a daily view of what is going on in the area! We also welcome your comments! For those of you with a business, please check out our Advertising rates and plan to add your information to our Business Directory.
New to The Pelican Post Online will be The Arts which will be artwork from local artists as well as photos that readers send us! Also, we will include stories or poems that we receive from our readers and local historians. We invite you to send us your work!
As we add information to the website, we will begin to add stories to the Archives. Over time we will be putting some of the older stories from the past issues for you to enjoy!
